About us

What is MeetMyPace?

We run small, active dating events around the UK — hikes, bouldering, fitness classes, paddle boarding. You meet people in real life, doing something new or something you enjoy, instead of staring at a phone.

Book through the app or the website, and after the event match with the people you’d like to see again — whether that’s romantic or just friends.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely — most people do. Every event is built around pairing up and swapping partners, so you’ll be chatting from the start.

How do events work?

Whether it’s a hike, bouldering, a fitness class or paddle boarding, every event is set up so you get to chat with everyone.

A typical hike:

Meet & greet ➡️ Warm-up ➡️ Paired up and icebreaker questions handed out ➡️ Hike starts ➡️ Host swaps pairs over after a given time so you get to speak to everyone ➡️ Half way snack break ➡️ Second half is a social mingle — chat to anyone, make friends ➡️ Post-hike social (if there’s somewhere nearby) ➡️ Match in the app by swiping on those you like 💚

Do I need to be fit?

No. We walk at the pace of the slowest person — it’s in the name. Beginners are welcome at everything. Just check the distance and ascent on the event page and make sure you’re happy to complete it.

What should I bring or wear?

Something comfortable you can move in.

  • Hikes: enough water and snacks, plus boots with ankle support, as the ground is often

uneven

  • Gym classes: your usual gym kit
  • Anything else: we’ll list what you need on the event page

Your host will check you’ve got suitable footwear and clothing for the conditions before setting off. If you turn up without it they may not be able to take you, so it’s worth checking the event page the night before.

Who can come

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, all events are 18+. Each event has its own age band, set by demand.

Why do you have age groups?

Each event has its own age band — usually somewhere around 20 years wide, like 25–45 or 30–50, though it varies a bit by event. The point is that you meet people at a similar stage of life, people you could realistically see yourself dating. You can only book an event whose band includes your age, and we rotate the bands regularly to keep it fair.

There’s no upper age limit, but you do need a band that covers you. If there isn’t one yet, tell us — we track what people ask for and add bands as demand grows.

Can I join an event outside the stated age range?

No, sorry. The advertised range is final for each event, because the whole point is that everyone there is in a bracket they’d consider dating. If nothing currently works for you, tell us what you’d like to see — our most popular bands came from people asking.

Will the event definitely go ahead?

Usually, but not always. We need enough people booked for the event to work, and a gender balance we’re happy with — meeting people is the point, after all.

We make that call the day before, based on tickets sold, and let you know straight away. We can’t promise the balance on the day itself, since we’ve no way of knowing who’ll drop out at the last minute. If we do cancel, your ticket price goes straight to your MeetMyPace wallet.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, as long as they’re coming to meet someone new, are in the event’s age band, and book their own ticket. Or come solo and make new friends.

Are your events LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes, everyone’s welcome. We want to be honest with you, though. Right now our events are balanced between men and women and most people who come are straight, so if you’re hoping to date someone of the same gender you may find fewer romantic matches for now. Friend Zone matching is open to everyone.

We’d love to run LGBTQ+ events as we grow. If you’d come along, email us at support@meetmypace.co.uk — every message helps us make it happen.

Are trans and non-binary people welcome?

Yes, absolutely. If you’re trans, book as the gender you identify with, and that’s how we’ll count you for gender balance. If you’re non-binary you’re very welcome too — book whichever ticket feels right, or email us at support@meetmypace.co.uk and we’ll help you find the best fit.

I’m polyamorous. Can I come?

Yes, whether you’re single or already have a partner. We just ask two things:

  • Come on your own, not as a couple
  • Be upfront about your relationship situation with anyone you connect with, so they can make

an informed choice

Most people at our events are single and not everyone will be open to polyamory. That’s fine on both sides.

I have a health condition or disability — can I come?

Very likely, and we’d rather you ask than assume. Every event page lists the distance, ascent and terrain so you can judge whether it suits you, and our activities vary a lot — a gym class or paddleboarding session is a different proposition from a moorland hike.

Tell us what you need and we’ll be straight with you about whether a particular event will work, and whether there’s another that suits you better. If you need someone with you to take part, get in touch and we’ll sort their ticket out.

Safety

Are your hosts trained?

Every host holds walk leading certification that we’ve checked and accepted as right for the event type and terrain they’re leading, and we hold a copy of it before they lead anything. Routes with significant ascent need a higher level, and we only assign them to hosts who have it. Every host is also trained to run MeetMyPace events.

How do you keep attendees safe?

  • Every route is risk-assessed before it’s used, and reviewed each year
  • Your host has walked the route themselves beforehand
  • We check the weather in the days before and again on the morning, and cancel if conditions

look dangerous

  • Events always take place as a group
  • Your host carries a first aid kit
  • You never have to share contact details — you only connect through the app if you both match

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold public liability insurance, which covers our liability as the organiser if something goes wrong because of us. It isn’t personal accident insurance, so it won’t cover an injury where nobody was at fault — if you’d like that kind of cover for yourself, it’s worth arranging separately.

After the event

How do I see someone again?

Through matching in the MeetMyPace app, so there’s no awkward asking for numbers. After the event you can choose:

  • Friend Zone: match with anyone from the event as a friend
  • Let’s Date: match romantically with people of the gender you’re interested in

You’ll only connect if they match with you too.

What if I don’t fancy anyone?

Then you’ve had a great day out and made some new friends. Only mutual matches connect, so nobody knows who you did or didn’t pick.

Booking and refunds

Do I need to book in advance?

No, but it’s worth it. Tickets stay on sale right up until the event starts, as long as it hasn’t sold out. Places are limited and popular walks do sell out, so booking early is the only way to be sure of a place — and it helps your host plan.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable if you change your mind. We may be able to help in exceptional circumstances — email us at support@meetmypace.co.uk and tell us what’s happened.

If we cancel an event, the full ticket price goes to your MeetMyPace wallet automatically, ready to use on any future event. It’s instant, there’s nothing to claim, and it never expires. If you’d prefer the money back to your card instead, just ask.

Hosting

I’d like to host an event

We’d love to hear from people who think they’d make a great MeetMyPace host.

Complete our host application form. We’ll ask about your experience, where you’re based, and the areas and age groups you’d like to cover. If it looks like a fit we’ll arrange a quick phone call.

Don’t have an event near you yet?

We’re a small company expanding as fast as we can while keeping the quality that makes MeetMyPace what it is. Tell us where you are — we track every request and it genuinely decides where we go next.
